Trilby Lawall
Office Manager
Trilby was born and raised in Winchester. Although she has worked for Amherst Dental Practice for 10 years, she became the office manager in April 2021. She is a graduate of Middleburg Academy and a dual degree graduate of Virginia Tech, with Bachelors of Science degrees in Marketing and Hospitality & Tourism Management. In her free time, she loves to cook, bake, craft, fish with her husband, spend time with family and friends, and spoil her dog, Roux. One thing Trilby has found to be tried and true is kindness is never overrated.
Allan Mace
Patient Coordinator
Allan was born and raised in Fairfax County, VA, and is a graduate of Annandale High School. He moved to the Winchester area 24 years ago and joined our practice in 2024. His desire to provide a valued service to our community brought him to the dental industry 6 years ago, along with over 30 years of customer service experience. One of Allan’s favorite parts of his job is the patients. He feels the first impression is the most important. In his free time, he enjoys gardening or exercising his love for travel - specifically to New Orleans!
Karen Derflinger
Insurance Coordinator
Karen was born and raised in the Winchester area. Karen has strengthened our team since September 2017 and has an accumulative 30 plus years of dental industry experience. She is an outgoing person who loves to socialize with just about everyone she meets! There truly is never a dull moment in her life. She loves to spend time with her husband and grandson around their pool or at his sports games. Through the years, the most valuable thing she has learned is to never judge a book by its cover.

Laura Talbert, RDH
Dental Hygienist
Laura has lived in the Winchester area her entire life. She and her bubbly personality joined our team in November 2020, bringing with her 12 years of dental experience. She began as a dental assistant and studied her way to her dental hygiene degree, which she received from Lord Fairfax Community College, aka Laurel Ridge. Laura describes her job as rewarding, interesting, and reliable. Her favorite thing about her job is the rapport and relationships she builds with her patients. When not working, Laura enjoys archery with her daughter or playing with her 2 dogs. A little know fact, Laura has been to 13 countries, ask her for stories!
Morgan Rust
Dental Assistant
Morgan is a Winchester native who graduated from James Wood High School. She joined our staff in July 2022, which began her career in dentistry. Before joining our dental team, she worked for years at her family-owned ice cream stand, New Town Creamery. Morgan loves the organization aspect of her job the most and has learned to never give up, even when it’s tough. When not in the office, she loves doing art, painting, wood burning, drawing, and playing with her animals which include a black lab, chickens, pot belly big, and goats.
The k-9 Team
Roux
Director of Patient Happiness
Roux is our happy, fluffy, team k-9 who loves to greet our patients, when invited. She is a standard Aussiedoodle, Labradoodle mix born in Roanoke, VA who enjoys “playing” with her chicken siblings and chewing on a good bone. She will play fetch for as long as you are willing to stay outside and never met a floor air conditioning vent she didn’t like. Roux is a hypoallergenic and non-shedding girl, with a calm demeanor which makes her a great addition to our office. While her home during the work day is in Trilby’s office, she will happily visit you during your appointment, just ask.
